Huge AUM DSP spikes on iOS11.0.3
« on: October 13, 2017, 10:51:28 PM »
Observing huge - up to 120% DSP load meter spikes, leading to audio crackles and sometimes, whole iPad restart. I'm on IPad Pro 12" 1 gen.
Anyone else has this issue?

I am seeing much higher s[ikes (with drop-outs) on 11.0.2 - but only using certain apps. Can run LayR using almost all of the 256 note/synth polyphony without a single drop at about 35-40%. Using AUs is another matter. Running one instance each of  RippleMaker and Laplace through two instances of Eos2 AU3s being driven by StepPolyArp I have managed 450%!!. Will continue to investigate - I suspect third-party app rather than AUM.

I suspect AU's as well as buggy IAA connections (no icons) between apps. Shall we wait for yet another iOS 11 update then? Or AU devs should bring their apps in line with latest iOS? Mmmmm.....

The missing IAA icons is a known iOS 11 bug. Not in my control unfortunately..

Regarding excessive CPU usage and drop-outs. In all cases so far, reports of issues like this has shown to be issues in the hosted apps/plugins, not in AUM itself. But please prove me wrong and I'll hunt the bug :)
