How to use the note range function
« on: February 03, 2018, 07:10:57 PM »

I am a new user and really basic with MIDI.  I see in the edit channels feature there is a "note range" where presumably you can limit the selected IAA app to play on the keyboard only the "range" of notes you select.  This would be amazing if I could get it to work.

I am successfully running IGRAND, MODULE and Kauldron in the AUM mixer,  and I want to limit Kauldron to only play from key C5 to C8 of my controller.   Setting the range on the channel doesn't do this however, the sound keeps registering on all notes.

Can someone provide me a brief tutorial on how to make this work?

I think this got answered in the Audiobus forum thread? In summary, if a synth is not reacting to the note range or channel filters in AUM, it means the MIDI has another way to reach the synth and is not actually routed through AUM. (Or you might be routing the MIDI directly to the apps virtual MIDI port via AUMs midi matrix). The note range and channel filters only affect MIDI sent directly to the synth via IAA or AU, not to an apps CoreMIDI virtual endpoints.
