Opening Moog AU GUI causes DSP spikes
« on: May 15, 2018, 12:50:58 AM »
I’m running a 2017 iPad on iOS 11.3. Opening the GUIs for the Moog Apps cause a CPU spike causing audio crackles etc. I am able to run Model 15 and Two instances of Model D in Audiobus and it seems to work fine there. Any ideas?

Unfortunately these are known iOS issues regarding CPU frequency scaling: Both AUM and Moog apps use very little idle CPU for their user interfaces, which makes iOS slow down the CPU to save battery. Then when you actually need it, you get a CPU spike and audio distortion. In addition, it could be related to iOS issues where it seems UI activity affects DSP performance (which it should not). These two issues are probably linked.

One work around might be to do something more CPU-heavy for a minute, to force the CPU speed up.

Also try updating to iOS 1.3.1.

Another thing to try if you own an iPad model with ProMotion: http://www.idownloadblog.com/2017/11/20/how-to-ipad-pro-display-60fps/
